The UniNA team, here represented by Mario Calabrese (Associated PI) and Mariano Buccino, built its strong expertise on the interaction of sea waves with port and coastal structures (mainly with vertical structures and submerged reefs), the analysis of the reliability of maritime structures and artificial beach nourishment, and coastal hydrodynamics issues. UniNa has been involved in many national and international funded research projects, of which the most coherent to the project topics are listed in Table B.3. From the wide scientific production, the most consistent peer-reviewed papers with the project topics are:

  • Buccino et al. (Science of the total environment, 2021);
  • Buccino et al. (Water, 2020);
  • Buccino et al. (Ocean Engineering, 2019a, b);
  • Buccino et al. (Journal of Waterway Port Coastal and Ocean Engineering, 2014);
  • Vicinanza et al. (Coastal Engineering, 2009);
  • Buccino et al. (Journal of Waterway Port Coastal and Ocean Engineering, 2007).

Together with the research activities, it is worth highlighting the consultancy activities of Mario Calabrese in many national projects, such as the restoration of the Bagnoli-Coroglio area, in Naples.
